Jason Lillis, PhD, Licensed Psychologist, Associate Professor, College of Psychology, California Northstate University
Bio: Dr. Jason Lillis received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. He is an associate professor at California Northstate University, where he teaches and mentors doctoral students. In addition, he has worked for 10+ years an NIH grant-funded research scientist and faculty member at the Brown Medical School and the Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, where he has been awarded 6 federally funded grants. Dr. Lillis has more than 70 publications and 3 books and is considered a leading researcher of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness and acceptance-based CBT intervention for treating mental and behavioral health issues. He was one of the first certified ACT therapists in the world by the Association of Contextual Behavioral Science. He has participated in Study Group for the National Institutes of Health and is currently the Chair of the Grants Committee for the Association of Contextual Behavioral Science. Much of his research has focused on applying acceptance and mindfulness-based strategies for health behavior change in the areas of weight management, physical activity, and diabetes management. In addition, he has conducted numerous studies on the issue of weight stigma, its consequences, and its behavioral manifestations.
